MapU
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 May 2026
MapU is a London-focused guide to cafes, libraries, hotel day passes, and coworking spots. This policy covers the MapU website (mapuwork.com) and the MapU Chrome extension.
What we collect
- Account data. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name, and avatar URL. This is stored against your MapU profile so you can write reviews, save favourites, and earn points.
- Location data. When you ask MapU or the extension to find nearby spots, your browser provides your current latitude and longitude. We use it to compute the list of nearby places and discard it as soon as that request finishes — we do not store it against your profile.
- Review content. Text, optional photos, and structured signals (Wi-Fi, noise, etc.) you submit are stored against your account and shown publicly on the spot's page.
- Basic request logs. Standard server logs (IP address, request path, user agent) are kept short-term for security and abuse prevention. They are not used for advertising.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not share your location, reviews, or profile with third-party advertisers.
- We do not track your browsing on other websites. The Chrome extension does not inject scripts into the pages you visit.
Third parties we rely on
- Supabase hosts our database and handles authentication. Your account and review data live there.
- Google Maps. When you tap a navigation button, MapU opens a new tab to Google Maps. We do not share data with Google beyond that link itself.
- Google Sign-In is used only for authentication.
Your controls
- You can revoke browser location access at any time in your browser's site settings. The extension stops returning nearby results without it.
- You can delete your account by emailing support@mapuwork.com. We will remove your profile and reviews within 30 days.
Changes & contact
Questions: support@mapuwork.com. We will post any material changes to this policy on this page; continued use of MapU or the extension after a change constitutes acceptance.
